Jack ate his first 'real' meal on Saturday, November 24th. He absolutely LOVED the rice cereal! He had no trouble getting used to the spoon and ate every last bite. At his four month appointment a week later I told his doctor this and she told me that I should go ahead and start him on fruit, giving him the same fruit for three days in a row at dinner to make sure there would be no allergic reaction. So for the last couple of weeks his dinners have consisted of a whole serving of rice cereal and a whole tub of Gerber #1 fruits.
We've made our way all the way through the selection of Gerber 1st fruits, and here's the score:
Fruits Jack likes:
Bananas
Applesauce
Peaches
Pears
Prunes
Fruits Jack doesn't like:
That's right. Our son likes EVERY food we have put in his mouth so far. And it's so funny-after almost every bite he says MMMMMMM.... You can tell he's really enjoying it! (He takes after his mom in his love for food.)
So, since he liked all of the fruits and wasn't allergic to any, tomorrow we will starting to give Jack two meals a day, both lunch and dinner. At lunch he will get a veggie and a fruit, and at dinner he will get rice cereal and fruit. MMMMMMM!
FYI-I also asked the doctor at that appointment if Jack was getting any teeth, because everyone was telling me that he was drooling so much that he must be starting to cut teeth. She said that she sees no sign of teeth so far, and that the excess drooling is actually a sign that a baby is ready for solids, because you need more saliva to swallow solids than you do milk. That's my interesting fact for the day. (And I'm glad there's no sign of teeth yet since I'm still nursing!)
