I'm not the one doing the Ironman today, but I sure have the jitters. I can't imagine how nervous all those athletes must be, treading 57 degree water waiting for the start gun to go off! I'm sitting here in my nice dry living room tracking Jason's progress on the computer-and I'm a ball of nerves!
Jack and I stayed behind this year and two of Jason's friends went along with him to cheer him on today. It turns out that was a good decision. This race isn't very "spectator friendly." The 112 mile bike course is what they call "point-to-point" meaning it starts in one place and ends in another, making it more difficult to be able to see and cheer on your athlete. I feel bad that we're not there, but I know it's for the best this year and luckily Jason doesn't mind at all. He's having a blast with his buddies.
So needless to say, I'll be glad when this race is over. It's the ultimate test of what the human body can do, and this makes a wife sitting at home pretty anxious! Say a prayer for him!
