So whoever coined the phrase "Never Say Never" knew what they were talking about. I have resolved in my life to not say that word again. Several times in the last decade or so things I've never said I'd do, I've done. GASP!! I know. Let's examine a few instances:
1. I'm a tall girl and I've never, ever been rail thin. I also have a slow metabolism which has made gaining weight easy. In high school I decided when I got married, it would be to a man who weighed more than me ALL the time, even when I was pregnant. I'd never marry a thin guy. HA! All I can say is the heart wants who the heart wants. :-)
2. In college I was an early childhood major. I said I'd NEVER teach kids older than 4th grade. Then I spent a summer tracking Pre-K. O. M. G! Went straight back to campus and changes my specialty. Yikes.
3. Once we moved to Houston and I saw how busy it was, I said I'd NEVER live SE of town. Too crowded. Too much traffic. I also said I never wanted to live in a 2 story house because I have bad knees. Oops.
4. Never would I be one of those Moms yelling so loudly at a sporting event that it could be borderline embarrassing for her poor kid. (See yesterday's post for further explanation on that one.)
5. I was NEVER going to have a toddler who was even the least bit out of control in public. HA! Hahahaha!
Me being wrong about all of these "nevers" have lead to some of the biggest blessings and most fun of my life. I'm so glad God had better plans for me than I did.
But I will never, and I mean NEVER, drive a minivan.
